A Tridentate Cu(II) Complex with a 2-(4′-Aminophenyl)Benzothiazole Derivative: Crystal Structure and Biological Evaluation for Anticancer Activity

Herein, the synthesis, structural characterization and in vitro biological evaluation of a novel Cu(II) complex with 2-(4-aminophenyl)benzothiazole pharmacophore conjugated (2-pyridinyl)methylamino chelating moiety is reported for first time. A full was conducted by X-ray crystallography, EPR, IR, elemental MS analysis, its binding to CT-DNA investigated UV-vis spectroscopy, ethidium bromide competition studies, circular dichroism, viscometry thermal denaturation. The data clearly indicate that interacts via intercalation, registering difference compared previously Pt(II) Pd(II) analogues. To evaluate anticancer activity complex, series experiments against breast, glioblastoma, prostate lung cancer cell lines along healthy fibroblasts were implemented. Cytotoxicity, cellular uptake, intracellular ROS production, cycle apoptosis analysis revealed an increased towards breast cells accompanied induction levels significant G2/M arrest followed apoptosis.
